the structure of pore space determines its macroscopic properties
therefore
it is significant to analysis and research the structure of pore space. However
its description of structure and performance has always been focus and difficulty using traditional methods. To investigate effective
accurate and objective characterization methods of pore space structure
in this work
the two-dimensional (2D) sequence images of porous material were obtained from MicroCT. Level set method based on Chan-Vese (C-V) model for segmentation was introduced to capture
reproduce and visualize the exact three-dimensional (3D) structure of porous material. Then a set of geometric parameters
such as pore volume
pore surface area
average pore diameter
porosity and connectivity based on 3D data were measured by using image analysis techniques. The 3D pore parameters obtained in this work have been proved objective and accurate to quantitatively describe the structure of pore of porous materials. Further more
it has provided a new research method to characterize pore structure of porous materials.
