Abstract:Seismic performances of hollow brick infills with or without mortar plaster layer were investigated base on the field reconnaissance following 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake or the 2013 Lushan Earthquake。Decades of mortar specimens with different type of fiber or various percentage of fiber were designed and tested. The relationship among compressive strength of mortar
the type of fiber and the percentage of fiber was discussed. Joint shear testings to 30 different specimens were carried out
which include 3 specimens without mortar plaster layer
3 specimens with general mortar plaster layer and 24 specimens with different fiber mortar plaster layer
in order to reveal the joint shear properties and failure mechanism of masonry with or without mortar plaster layer. The concluding remarks include that the joint shear strength of masonry without plaster layer is quite different from that with plaster layer
the joint shear strength for masonry with fiber mortar layer significantly increases when the fiber content is suitable
the joint shear strength decrease if the fiber content in mortar layer get less
fiber mortar layer effectively delay the formation of the cracks on the masonry surface and improve the ductility of shear failure
and also fiber mortar layer is efficient to avoid sudden collapse following crack.
