Abstract:To study the dynamic characteristics of one proposed tailing dam

its dynamic characteristics with two inputs of seismic motion were studied based on its survey data. The physical variables and their variations

such as effective stress

dynamic displacement

permanent displacement

stress level

the coefficient of horizontal acceleration amplification of the tailings dam

were analyzed in detail. At the same time

liquefaction resistances under two seismic loading effects were also evaluated separately. The results indicate that the tailing dam under the above dynamic load effects was at lower stress levels

with a large safety margin

and the pore water pressure in the dam was in a reasonable range

therefore the soil elements in the dam would not liquefy.
