Abstract:Study used Green house gas CO2 to remove sodium from the aluminum solid waste Bayer red mud. Analysis of the particle size of red mud
reaction time
and stirring rate of the red mud slurry three dynamics factors’ effect to the sodium removal rate was given. The results were as follows. The particle size of red mud’s effect to the sodium removal rate was very significant
with other factors’ effects not. The optimal parameters for the sodium removal were red mud particle size 2000mesh
reaction time 90min
and stirring rate 600r/min; Under optimal parameter condition
the sodium removal rate was 77.39%
and the remaining Na2O content was 2.37%. The diffusion of compounds containing sodium was the restrictive factor for the sodium removal in the red mud slurry
and the smaller particle size of red mud was better for the diffusion of compounds containing sodium. The red mud particle size should be considered fine grinding to 2000mesh during the afterward sodium removal technique research.
