中文摘要: 如果能够准确而快捷地预测本振相位噪声和功率放大器非线性对数字发射机的误差矢量幅度(EVM)的恶化程度,以及采用EVM来快捷地预测系统误比特率(BER)性能,可为衡量现代数字通信系统性能提供一种新的可行手段。针对这一问题,首先推导了EVM与本振相位噪声、功率放大器的3阶交调失真(IMD3)之间的数学关系式,并提出了利用3阶交调失真(IMD3)来准确而快捷地预测功率放大器非线性对发射机EVM的恶化影响;其次推导出在同时存在相位噪声和功率放大器非线性时EVM的数学表达式;最后通过分析EVM与信噪比(SNR)之间的关系,获得了由EVM计算误比特率(BER)的数学公式。仿真结果表明:采用IMD3来预测功率放大器非线性对EVM的恶化,无需考虑输入输出功率、3阶截止点(IP3)和3阶交调产物等参数,为计算功放非线性引起的EVM提供了一种简单快捷的方法;使用EVM来预测系统的BER,能够大大节省传统BER测量方法所需的时间和闭环终端。
Abstract:If the effects of the local oscillator (LO) phase noise and the power amplifier nonlinearity on the digital transmitter error vector magnitude (EVM) can be predicted easily and effectively, and the bit error rate (BER) can be predicted using the EVM, a new way will be provided to estimate the performance of the modern communication systems. In order to solve this problem, the relationships between EVM and two effects, LO phase noise and power amplifier nonlinearity, were derived and expressed separately. And the third order intermodulation distortion (IMD3) was used to simplify the expression of the EVM. Then, an expression for the EVM was derived based on the digital transmitter model that considers local oscillator phase noise and power amplifier nonlinearity. Finally, the math formula of bit error rate (BER) versus EVM,which can be easier and more useful to predict BER,was given. Through the simulation, it was found that a simple way was provided by using IMD3 to calculate EVM, without considering the input power, output power, 3rd interception point and 3rd intermodulation product power. And predicting BER with the value of EVM can save the necessary closed loop equipment in the conventional method and shorten measure time.
